Velvet & her kitties

Our friend Kylie's 2 year old kitty cat Velvet, gave birth to 7 kitties on Tuesday night...and I got to hold one yesterday...never done that before!!

Velvet is such a gorgeous kitty - so sweet & gentle & caring, and as this is her fourth litter I believe she might take a trip to the vet as soon as the time is right!

Oh the wonders of nature!!

My Sunbeams

Lovely sketch here, now another fave!

This is by Anita Bownds one of the Scrapville DT's...her sketches are always great!

So I played with an old photo of my little kiddies, and printed it in sepia.  Used lots of neutrals, cos I really am into that atm.

Love working with this photo so with painting & distressing, and even used some old packaging here..so recycling too.

Hope you are creating too.

Delightful Laydeez

When I saw these gorgeous coloured shells at Lets Get Shabby I just couldn't resist scrapping a page...I think the challenge was marvellous inspiration!

Pick three colours from the picture below - to dominate your project with a summer theme (since its warming up here in Australia, and if its cooling down where you live – then scrap some photos left over from summer or make that summer project you always wanted to!)
Make sure you state which 3 colours you've used and match them as close as possible.

And here is my page -

I choose to use the Tropic Orange, to match my lovely pregnant Jade's tshirt, the Key Lime that is in the green trees of Jade's beautiful garden & White to go with
wonderful Tashi's blouse.

I misted & distressed & stitched & used bits & bobs from my stash, including a lovely Tattered Inspirations hat pin & then with one large flower to set it all off.

A delightful challenge that matches this page!

Christmas Spirit Challenges - With Love

Over at the wonderful  Sandie's blog she is running Christmas Spirit card challenges.  Every year there is always a great Christmas challenge that Sandie thinks up!

So our first weekly challenge is to create a card with -

An Angel + one other element starting with "A". It's entirely up to you as long as it starts with "A". You can add anything else you like to your card.

For my card I printed out a sweet angel from free vintage photos over at Holiday Crafts, trimmed it with my lovely fussy scissorsand popped it on a few layers of paper & tissue, ribbon and journaling card.  Then added bling and ribbon roses, and adhered it to a TWB kraft card.

My other 'a' is antlers on my reindeer!

Do join in, and make some fab Christmas cards !

ARTastic - Beyond the Gate!

Our November inspiration ... at ARTastic
comes to you by the very talented fabric artist Kay D. Haerland with her gorgeous art quilt Under the Canopy. (yes people, this is a quilt!!).

Canopy-WEB

Additional criteria - fabric and stitching

A little about Kay D Haerland
"We have a very International household. Growing up in unspoiled New Zealand, I developed a strong love of nature, which I share with my Norwegian-born husband BÃ¥rd. We have lived in several European countries, and in Pennsylvania, USA, for 20 years. That was where my quilting journey started.... and it is now well into another phase with our family move to Australia, continuing our International lifestyle. Our son David was born in England, and is now here in Australia with us.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me. There I find endless variety of shape and texture, all with its own innate logic of geometry and coloration. My quilts are often intricately realistic in detail, and require a lot of research.

After more than 20 years of quilting, - this whole field is more fascinating than ever. It even seems to change faster all the time, with new ideas and means of expression,- stretching the borders and embracing the entire creative spectrum.

Art Quilts are my passion today, and my development has taken me from traditional quilts to pictorial quilts, miniatures and abstract, with an emphasis on surface embellishment. I have no formal art or textile training, but I sure have been to a great school of experience. I also enjoy teaching, which is remarkably rewarding."

If you would like to see some of Kay's quilts up close and personal, she is holding a solo exhibition at the Gosford Regional Art gallery from December 1st until January 9th.
Gosford Regional Art Gallery
36 Webb St,
East Gosford, NSW 2250 (1½ hrs North of Sydney)
For further information please see Kay's website.

And here is my page...I used glimmermisted fabric, lovely Kraft CS, machine stitching, some puffy rubons that kept slitting apart and a TWB gate as my representation of this wonderful artwork!

Do join in at ARTastic  - a beautiful way to scrap.
